Farouk Lawan Stopped At The Airport While Attempting To Travel Abroad

Honorable Lawan who has been accused of taking $620, 000 bribe, from the Chairman, Zenon Petroleum & Gas Ltd, Mr. Femi Otedola, to doctor the report of the House ad hoc committee, is still under investigation. He was scheduled to board an Emirates Airline flight en route to Saudi Arabia to perform the lesser Hajj when he was stopped by operatives of the State Security Service (SSS) at the airport and prevented from leaving the country. The lawmaker was said to have appeared very embarrassed following the development. He was also reported to have been frantically making phone calls to what was believed to be “highly placed people in government” to help him out of his predicament. It is believed that Honorable Farouk Lawan is considered a flight risk and might seize the opportunity to flee the country in order to avoid arrest and arraignment. It could not be ascertained if the lawmaker was eventually allowed to travel. Meanwhile, latest reports on the investigation into the bribery allegations were that investigation had been concluded and the lawmaker would be arraigned any moment from now.
